About the Staff

In a world where extraordinary technological growth sometimes makes reading a second choice, Kids Reading Circle founder Deborah Dine, a Maryland-based writer with expertise in education, children's literature and computer technology, uses her combined skills to help kids choose reading first.

The site's primary content is an extensive data-base of books based on four age groups, as well as children's book news and author links. With the help of area educators, librarians, authors, and even her family (several have published books), she stocks the site regularly with fresh reviews, news, upcoming book lists, and bookclub questions and lesson plans. On recognition, the site has won the prestigious Interactive Media Award and Reading Rockets has listed the site on their list of reading blogs. Thank you for visiting...and for joining us in helping Kids Choose Books to Read..

Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus

Pigeon Series by Mo WillemsA bus driver takes a break, but never fear, a replacement steps in. What! A pigeon! And like no other pigeon you've ever met -- young children love this and all of popular cartoonist Mo Willems' Pigeon books. Toddlers see their antics in him, which give adults some reasoning power. Reasoning? With a 3-year-old? Well, you'll all have a good time anyway. The latest in the series is Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late.

Fablehaven Series

Fablehaven by Brandon MullOneo of the best read-aloud parent-child fantasy series on the shelves today. Commissioned by the Mormon Church to compete with Harry, this series doesn't compete -- what book can?. But Fablehaven is unique in of itself. It can have you believing the story is taking place in our world, until Kendra sees something in the garden..and that's the beauty of it...Spooky, not graphic. It will be heartily followed by the 8-12 year-old crowd, girls and boys alike....The third in the series was released this month.
